Globology's ferries are catamarans (vessels with 2 hulls) because of their safety and fuel-efficiency. Safety comes from: the very wide beam which makes them much more stable than conventional monohull vessels, hulls divided into many separate water-tight compartments, and twin engines for fail-safe operation.
Our ferries are designed and built in-house specifically for the unique operating environment which makes East Africa extremely difficult for conventional vessels. And because we design and build locally we can provide modern ferries for around 25% of the cost of an imported vessel.
The ferries will be certified by the relevant Maritime Authority in each country of operation. In the case of Kenya the prototype is certified by the Kenya Maritime Authority as will the 4 production ferries which will operate in Kenya's Lake Victoria waters.
